Better career
opportunities
An 'Avenue' is
how our young volunteers see their work for Butterwick's three hospices,
shops and lotteries. Because it's a two way street - the Hospice
benefits, but so do the volunteers. They develop experience, skills,
knowledge, teamwork, self-confidence and make new friends. Oh -
and they really enjoy it too!
What volunteering can do for you
Experience as a volunteer looks good on your CV, and impresses prospective
employers because it shows you're responsible, committed and you
care. We could even train you to widen your skills and qualifications
because we're part of the nationally recognised Millennium Volunteers
government initiative.
We depend on our volunteers, and we desperately need more.
You'll be amazed at the range of openings for volunteers. You could
choose something related to what you're studying, a hobby or interest,
or something you've never done before but would like to try. Whether
you're at school, college or uni, in work or not, we're happy to
consider you. You'll get guidance and support all along the way,
and the atmosphere and teamwork is really good. What you do at the
Butterwick will help you in all kinds of ways, job-wise and as a
person too. And because we're part of the Millennium Volunteers
scheme for 16 - 24 year olds, your achievements count towards an
Award of Excellence, which will be a valuable addition to your CV.
