An 'Avenue' is how our volunteers see their work for Butterwick's three hospices, shops and lotteries. Because it's a two way street - the Hospices benefit, but so do the volunteers. They acquire new skills, widen their working experience, update their knowledge and find new friends. And they find it fulfilling and rewarding too.

What volunteering can do for you
Whatever your working or life experience, it will be enhanced through the Butterwick. And if you've been thinking of taking up new work, or resuming your career after time out, then your experience as a volunteer adds to your CV - and your confidence - and impresses prospective employers.

We depend on our volunteers and we desperately need more.
There's a whole range of openings for volunteers. You could choose something related to your previous work experience, or connected with a hobby or interest, or something you've never done before but would like to try. Whether you've not worked for a while, or are newly unemployed, or you've simply got time to spare for something rewarding, we're happy to consider you.

You'll get guidance and support all along the way, and the atmosphere and teamwork is something special. You'll discover that helping the Butterwick will help you in all kinds of ways, professionally and as a person too.
